Description
Trachelospermum is a genus of climbing and creeping plants belonging to the family Apocynaceae. These plants are commonly known as star jasmine because of the fragrant star-shaped flowers they produce. They are native to subtropical and tropical regions, although some varieties can adapt to more temperate climates.
The leaves of Trachelospermum are evergreen, opposite and simple. They have a shiny appearance and can vary in shape. Flowers are one of the most distinctive features. They are small, tubular and star-shaped, usually white or creamy yellow in color. In addition to their visual appeal, the flowers usually have a sweet and pleasant aroma.
Trachelospermum is known for its vigorous, climbing growth habit. Species of this genus are ideal for covering pergolas, fences and walls, providing attractive greenery throughout the year. Most Trachelospermum species are hardy and thrive in warm climates.
